Executing Code and Curing Bugs: The Epic Vibe of the DUET CSE Programming Contest!
The computer science labs and academic corridors of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) were recently filled with the clicking of keyboards and intense concentration as the much-anticipated Intra-University Programming Contest took place.
From freshman coders writing their first dynamic algorithms to senior veteran programmers debugging complex C++ and Python scripts under strict time limits, the energy inside the lab complex was off the charts!
1. The Battle of Logic and Speed
Organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the contest challenged participants with algorithmic problems ranging from basic data structures to advanced graph theory and dynamic programming.
The Countdown Timer: With a live scoreboard projecting rankings in real-time, the tension in the room peaked during the final 30 minutes as top teams raced to solve the trickiest problems.
Triumph of the Coders: After an intense 3-hour battle, a talented team of junior-year students clinched the championship trophy by successfully cracking the maximum number of problems with optimal time complexity.
2. Beyond the Screen: Tech Culture at DUET
Coding at DUET isn’t just restricted to exams and syllabus assignments. The vibrant programming community regularly hosts weekend problem-solving sessions, competitive programming bootcamps, and software development workshops. Students from Civil, EEE, Mechanical, and CSE departments alike are increasingly diving into full-stack development, machine learning, and automation tools.
3. Pro-Tips for Aspiring Student Programmers
Consistency over Intensity: Solve at least 2 to 3 problems daily on platforms like Codeforces, LeetCode, or HackerRank to build strong logic-building muscles.
Master Data Structures: Focus deeply on sorting, searching, graphs, and trees rather than just memorizing syntax.
The Bottom Line:
Whether it's structural blueprints, fluid mechanics, or clean code, DUETians continue to prove their mettle across technical disciplines.
